Vom Grimm-Haus translated means: from Grimm's House. Grimm is my Mother's maiden name and I chose to name my kennel and guide service: vom Grimm-Haus out of respect for her and our German heritage. The Grimm family shares a long and strong hunting heritage, a great love for animals as well as the forests and fields in which they tread.

My wife Jamie and I, live in Pittsburgh with our little boy Donato and our Deutsch Drahthaar - Duke vom Buffeltaler. We are fortunate to live in very close proximity to both of our parents and our brothers and sisters; and their children. All of our family members share our love for dogs, and most of them love to hunt as well.

Living in South Western Pennsylvania gives us the opportunity to chase a wide variety of wild game and fish in our lush mountainous region. Pittsburgh is surrounded by forests, farms, beautiful lakes, rivers, and streams. We are in a fairly strong flyway for good water fowling opportunities and we are lucky to have great public lands available to chase after Big Game species such as Black Bear, Whitetail Deer, and Wild Turkey. We have some wonderful areas where Ruffed Grouse flourish. And if you are at the right place at the right time, you may have a chance to find your dog pointing American Woodcock. The hunting seasons in our area are generous and this keeps our Gun Dogs satisfied, as well as keeping our legs and passions for hunting strong. When we are not hunting, we keep our dogs conditioned by training at our Local NAVHDA Chapter (Shenango) and The Alpine Hunting and Fishing Club.

Having close proximity to family, forest and field gives our dogs a great opportunity for proper socialization, and having such a wide variety of wild game to pursue makes the Verin Deutsch Drahthaar the perfect companion for our family.
